When I first bought my new house, alarm and CCTV were not in the list of the renovation. But for a second thought, I think I better install the alarm system. Then the wiring man told me to fix the CCTV system as well so that I do not need to hack the wall or to drill holes in the ceiling in future. I told him to fix the wires first. I will install the cameras when I feel I need them in future.
These are the advantages of having the CCTV system…
I can monitor the house thru the Internet when I am at work or when I am on holiday.
I can check the porch and the backdoor of my house thru the monitor.
I can check what triggered off the alarm before I step out of my room.
I can save the recording for up to 3 months in the harddisk.
Here is a scary story…
My friend’s house was broken in last week. Four robbers armed with “Rambo knives” broke into his house at 4 am. They tied up everyone in the family. Luckily the robbers did not harm them. The robbers took away cash, jewellery, laptop, digital camera, watches… etc.
What is your opinion?

For me, if you have a budget for it,or other thing that can be slashed first. I am highly suggested to install CCTV. Due to current situation, especially the new area like yours. It is having a very high tendency of theft to occur. Make sure the quality one la. Otherwise it is useless.

Thanks for the suggestion, abeku. Today I went to the security company to subscribe to their patrol service but it was closed on Sunday. Tomorrow I will try again.

I just subscribed the security patrol service. RM15 per month. So cheap! The guard patrols every one hour from 7pm to 7am. They put 2 stickers at my house, one in front and another at the back. Better than nothing, right?

if u r worried tht cctv is destroyed by the robbers, what about install it in yr staircase downstairs? it is usually those movement detection. say yr kids and u all asleep upstairs, then u can activate alarm and go to bed. in case of any movement detected, alarm will be triggered. in tht case, the burglars wouldnt know u have alarm installled unless they r yr close frens who have been to yr house
