Range Extender

Before I moved into my new house, I designed my router point at the small hall upstairs, thinking that all of us will be accessing the wifi upstairs.

But when we moved into the house, I realized that we actually access the wifi downstairs. The router was not at the ideal position. I needed to re-position the router but I did not want cables running along the walls. Thus I bought a Range Extender.

Thanks to my friend, LcF, for his kind tutorial and technical support. Now the range extender is up and running. Let me show you the result.

These are the signals I get when I stand beside my router upstairs. “Canary” is my ssid.

When I go downstairs, you can see the signal from my router drops drastically.

When I switch on the range extender, the signal is boosted up again (and I have changed my router channel from channel 11 to channel 13). So now I have better signal and coverage for everyone downstairs, as well as upstairs.
