Telekom came to fix my line on 5th January, 18 days after my application. I immediately called to activate my Streamyx account. I thought I could use the Internet soon but the joy was short lived. I waited for a day but there was no light on the DSL led. I called again. Telekom told me my account was activated and the jumper was set. I told him there was no light and no blinking on the DSL led. That means there was no Streamyx signal at all.

He then instructed me to switch off and switch on the modem, unplug this and unplug that, and then press “Start” and press this and press that. I stopped him and asked what actually he wanted. He asked me to check if I could ping my modem. Of course I could.
I told him I know how to install the modem and to set it up. I have been using the Internet since 1995 and Streamyx since 2004. He said, “Wah, dah 4 tahun pakai masih tak boleh troubleshoot eh?” Of course I cannot! Because the problem was from my side. It was the Telekom who cannot deliver Streamyx signal to my line. He then said he will make a report to the technical side.
Today at around 9.30am, I received a call from Telekom HQ in KL to verify the report. I came home and checked the modem, not signal yet. At around 5pm, Telekom called again and said the problem is solved. He asked me to check. Yes, indeed!
I am back online! Against all odds, I survived!

Welcome back…at last. That the same procedure they ask me to do last time. It is very irritating. For those people like you, it is okay. What is like other who is not computer literate. Do they know what is “ping”. Urgh..
